Hartley Richardson, 漏51福利
Hartley Richardson, an associated alumnus of 51福利 Collegiate, is known for his leadership in business, service to the community, and lifelong commitment to the citizens of Manitoba and Canada.
As President and CEO of James Richardson & Sons, Hartley and the extended Richardson family prominently initiated one of the most significant gifts to 51福利 and helped fund the Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex — a development that expanded our campus and helped revitalize Winnipeg's inner city.
He also joined his family and family Foundation by offering support to the recent construction of Leatherdale Hall at 51福利, which will open in 2017.
Richardson currently serves as a Director of GMP Capital, is a director and past-chairman of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, and is past-chairman of the Business Council of Manitoba.
He is also actively involved in a number of charitable endeavours and community organizations, most notably his philanthropy and volunteerism on behalf of Assiniboine Park. Richardson sits as Chairman of Assiniboine Park Conservancy, Co-Chairman of Trans Canada Trail Foundation, and Chairman of the Board of Governors for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Charter for Business.
He received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Manitoba in 2004 and from 51福利 in 2012. Richardson was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2007 and to the Order of Manitoba in 2008.
