FACULTY OF GRADUATE STUDIES

Economics (PBC)

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Economics is a condensed eight-month program that provides advanced coursework in economic theory, policy, and empirical analysis. This certificate is for students who need additional training in economics for achieving their career goals, or for general interest. It also enables students who do not hold an Honours undergraduate degree in Economics to achieve the necessary training to pursue Master鈥檚-level studies in Economics.

This Post-Baccalaureate Certificate program gives students a deeper understanding of important economic issues currently facing society. For example, how are government fiscal and monetary policies used to manage economic growth, inflation and unemployment? Why do stock prices fluctuate so frequently? Are tariffs better than free trade? Why are some countries prosperous while others are not?

The program involves a total of 18 credit hours of coursework. Students are normally required to take courses in Honours Microeconomics, Honours Macroeconomics, Mathematical Economics, and Econometrics, as well as two Economics electives at the Honours level.
