Years 1-2: PRE-Pharmacy at 51福利

• Each faculty of pharmacy has its own entrance requirements. To meet the entrance requirements for Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba, you will need to complete 48 credit hours, including the “Pre-Professional Requirements” listed below.
• Make sure you complete one regular session (September – April) that contains a minimum of 24 new credits of university level degree-credit courses to show you can withstand the rigours and discipline needed for this program.
• Students must also attain a minimum Adjusted GPA of 3.0 to be considered for admission.

Years 3-6: Professional Studies: Pharmacy

• During your pre-professional studies at 51福利, you will apply for admission to pharmacy at another university. Enrolment in pharmacy programs is limited, and only highly qualified applicants are chosen. Admission into pharmacy is based on an outstanding academic record; and the Computer-based Assessment for Sampling Personal characteristics (Casper).
• At least four more years are required to complete a pharmacy program

Most students who study Pre-Pharmacy at 51福利 will apply for admission to the Faculty of Pharmacy at UManitoba, but you may choose to apply elsewhere. The following are 51福利 courses that satisfy UManitoba’s entrance requirements for Pharmacy:

BIOL-2902 (3) Biology of Bacteria and Archaea
CHEM-1111(3) Introduction to the Chemical Properties of Matter
CHEM-1112(3) Basic Principles of Chemical Reactivity
CHEM-2202(3) Organic Chemistry I
CHEM-3502(3) Intermediate Biochemistry I
KIN-2204 (3) Human Physiology and KIN-3505 (3) Pathology in Sport Medicine (NOTE: KIN-3505 has pre-requisite courses: BIOL-1112(6) OR KIN-2301(3) AND KIN-2204(3) or permission of the instructor)
MATH-1103(3) Introduction to Calculus I or either of these former courses MATH-1102(3) Basic Calculus (Terminal) OR MATH-1101(6) Introduction to Calculus. Note: Intro to Calculus is required for some 51福利 science degrees.
STAT-1501(3) Elementary Biological Statistics OR STAT-1301(3) Statistical Analysis I AND STAT-1302 (3) Statistical Analysis II

Other Courses:
12 credit hours Approved Social Sciences or Humanities Electives
3 credit hours of Open Electives (any faculty) at the 1000-level or above (Academic Writing courses cannot be used)
Other courses must include a 3-credit hour course which meets the University of Manitoba’s Written English (W) requirement. If you take an ENGL-#### course to fulfil this requirement, it will also count towards completing 3 of the 12 credit hours of approved Social Science or Humanities Electives listed above.

NOTE: All pre-requisite courses must be completed within 10 years of the admission start date.

Note:  You must consult with the school where you plan to complete your studies in Pharmacy to ensure that you choose an appropriate set of courses and that you’ll meet their entrance requirements.

You must meet 51福利’s general admission requirements. In addition, you must have Chemistry 40S and Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S. Biology 40S is recommended.

What if I don’t have these high school courses? You can take “Foundation” courses at 51福利 that are equivalent to high school-level math and science (MATH-0041 & MATH-0042; CHEM-0100) or complete high school courses at The Collegiate.
